Home of Wild garlic! Ovandalen Beside Hallesnipen, Prediksstolen & Ekebacken
The trail pass through the lush terrain of Ovandalen. This valley divides Hallesnipen from the rest of the mountain. The terrain is enclosed by an intense and pleasant green vegetation. Here lies a humid and almost tropical atmosphere. The sun light up the green colours in the relatively dense vegetation. Light gives the terrain a remarkable rich colour reproduction.
Ovandalen is a botanically rich area. Here grows a tall spruce forest with a rich shrub layer and luxuriant ground vegetation. The ferns shows their long and thin leaves in the area. The spruce switch over to a broadleaf forest in the valley's western side.
Once there in Vargön will road signs shows the way up to Halleberg. Ovandalen is farthest away on the mountain where the road ends. There are both parking and turning point zone. The trail is marked in a good way from this point.
The trek is usually the goal of the visit in the valley. Nature is enjoyable for young and old alike.
Clogs fixes easily the walk, even if more sturdy shoes are to prefer! Especially if it has rained. The terrain is then wet and sometimes a bit gooey.
Strollers and wheelchairs are not useful for transportation in the area.
Initially starts the walk on a gravel path which ends relatively quickly and then the nature trail takes over. Gradually with an increased distance becomes the path more narrow. The trek finally leads down to the forest meadow next to Vänern.
Walking trail is about 1.6 km.
Difference In Altitude
The valley slope is mostly easy downwards. The only exception is just before the mountain end. Here is a small descending steep and it takes one down against Vänern.
The difference in height for the walk is about 80 m.
The area become extra popular when it blooms in the forest meadow next to Vänern. The senses are given extra spice when the Wild garlic are in full bloom.
In the area close to Lake Vänern grows a smaller sea with the plants. The place is widely known for the number of the Wild garlic plants. Often it burst into bloom around mid-May. Wild garlic flowers between May and June.
The forest meadow closest Vänern is a pleasant place. Here is a good possibility to sit down. It's just to pick up the cookies and the coffee!
